10 Jan at 9-12 pm in the restaurant MM Mat: - love and devotion invite Nicolas Bourriaud, head of Palais de Tokyo, Paris The artist group love and devotion consisting of Ingrid Eriksson, Carina Gunnars, Karin Johnson and Anna Kindgren engage in a kind of social art that incorporates the space, the staff and the environment of the place they are invited to work in. On behalf of Moderna Museet love and devotion have chosen to enhance the Museums inner beating heart the white cube. By illuminating the outer walls of the cube with a static blue-green light and the inner room with searching, reflecting light sequences, they achieve a work that questions the idea of the white cube itself.

Nicolas Bourriaud, together with his colleague Jerome Sans, is head of the newly-opened experimental art project at Palais de Tokyo in Paris. In the 1990s, Nicolas Bourriaud became known as a writer on art criticism and also as the author of several books on the new type of art that he describes as relational aesthetics. His latest book is called Post Production (2002) and deals with art that reproduces older works and places them in a new, contemporary context.

love and devotion has invited Nicolas Bourriaud to talk about the meaning of the white cube and his experiences from Palais de Tokyo, and also to summarise his latest book. A whole evening with Nicolas Bourriaud, in other words. There will also be music and a viewing of art!
